AFC Leopards has announced an increase in the club membership recruitment drive with its 2026 membership register hitting an impressive milestone of 9,604 members.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Ingwe’s National Executive Committee confirmed that the register prepared and published had arrived at the new figure of the overall club members.

2000 members increase

The figure marks an increase of almost 2000 members from the figures of 2025, when the membership stood at 7,794 members as of December 31, 2025.

The number also reveals a double increase in the membership in 2026, a factor attributed to adriven by aggressive branch expansions, where the group jumped from 54 to over 81 branches, and structured annual member renewal campaigns aimed at broadening the fan base and strengthening the institutional framework.

Recruitment window extended

On April 1, 2026, club Secretary General Isaac Mulindi announced the extension of the club’s recruitment exercise, with an initial 10-working-day extension replaced by a decision to leave the registration window open.

The move seemed to have rich rewards, with the club numbers soaring from the baseline historic highs of 5,482 members in 2024, to reach the 8,516-member mark by early 2026, and the subsequent mark of almost 10,000 members.

Membership contributions often play a key role in financing club activities, including player welfare, logistics, and development programs. At the same time, the club clarified that recruitment of new members will remain open throughout the year.

Meanwhile, Ingwe has commended its entire fanbase for taking up the opportunity to register with the club, as it reminded those who have not done so of the procedure.

“We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each member who has taken the step to register or renew their membership. This remarkable achievement reflects not only the passion for football but also the strong community spirit that binds all our members together,” the club statement read.

The club further emphasised the benefits to which one is entitled as a bona fide club member.

On-pitch fortunes

“As we celebrate this significant accomplishment, we also warmly invite more fans and supporters to join our family. Becoming a member offers the opportunity to engage in exclusive club activities, participate in branch events and social initiatives organised by the club nationwide,”the statement added.

This comes as the club has also seen tremendous on-pitch fortunes in the year, having come close to ending their long-awaited thirst for a domestic league crown with a runner-up finish in the 2026 FKF Premier League campaign.

The club’s last domestic crown came in 1998.
