Job and fun! Kenyan Madina Okot loving the experience with WNBA club
Newly recruited WNBA star Madina Okot has opened up about her experience learning the ropes in the United States with the Atlanta Dream.
In an interview on Sunday, May 4, 2026, Okot said the encounter has been plenty of learning curves and crucial interactions and adjustments to her style as she soaks in the atmosphere with the NBA club.
“I have had the best experience. I am here; it’s not college anymore. Learning so much from my veterans, and they have been doing a great job talking to me through everything.
Novel experience
She admitted that experience has been a massive career step up from the college one as she looks to start her new step up in her budding career.
“My coaches have done a good job trying to delete what I was used to doing in South Carolina. This is a new system, and I feel like I am having the best experience,” she explained.
Okot made a fast and furious start to the team preseason run on April 29, 2026, where she was ranked the top performer in the game with a score of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, she was at her cruising best against the Washington Mystics, prompting plaudits from the Women’s NBA.
In a tweet during the game, The Women’s NBA, while reacting to her eye-catching and dazzling game, sought to inquire if the WNBA’s new draft was indeed a rookie.

The former Kenya 3×3 basketball ace now only has a couple of preseason games left before she and Dreams angle for the rigors of the new regular side ahead.
The Women’s National Basketball League 2026 regular season will officially tip off on May 8, 2026.
Dreams will get their campaign underway with the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Okot will be looking to leverage her draft status and strong preseason performances to join the rare company of Kenyan female athletes to have graced the courts of the country’s women’s league.
