Inside Murang’a Seal’s dazzling 2026 rise to 4th place
By Luke Oluoch, February 6, 2026As the Football Kenya Premier League takes a break to pave the way for the start of the 2026 FKF Shield action this Saturday, February 7, 2026, Murang’a Seal’s fairytale run in the top flight remains a fairytale story.
The Murang’a-based team has enjoyed tremendous success in the past couple of months, moving from mid-table obscurity to ranking among the top four teams and within a shout for storming the league title chase.
Seal only recently lost their cherished record of the league’s longest unbeaten run, but the defeat did little to dampen their resolve. Osborne Monday’s side now sits fourth in the standings and boasts the league’s joint second-best scoring form, after leaders Gor Mahia, affirming their impressive run of form.
Joe Waithira’s impact
Led by the mercurial skipper Joe Waithira, Seals have literally taken no prisoners as far as their league run in the past two months goes.
The in-form skipper led the successful hunt, scoring four goals in three matches for the soaring Seals to earn himself the December player of the month accolade.

A perfect final month in 2025 saw Seal remain unbeaten in their three league encounters in December.
A positive result in a one-all draw opened their campaign for December before back-to-back successes kept the team on the winning margin.
Seal the deal
The TuriAMumbi team dispatched reigning champions, Police FC, keeping intact their long unbeaten run in the month.
Osborne Monday’s side concluded the month in style with a 3-1 victory against Mara Sugar.
The feat saw the side turn the year ranked ninth in the standings with 18 points after 14 games.
They not only extended that streak but also bettered it at the start of 2026.
Heading to the end of January, Seal’s only blip in the league came in a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Gor Mahia.
January hunt
The club won all their fixtures in the spell, bar the late 3-2 defeat to Gor Mahia at Moi Kasarani Stadium.
Victories against Mathare United and Bidco assured Seals of their continued ascent in the league table, before they were further boosted with the FKF Leagues and Competition Committee (LCC) awarding them full points from the abandoned clash against Ulinzi Stars in a ruling delivered on Friday, January 30, 2026.
For a team that finished 13th, narrowly avoiding relegation and fighting for survival until the very end of the campaign, 2026 could not have come with more good tidings.
