Shujaa exploits

Coming off a third-place finish in the Nairobi leg, where an impressive run was blighted with a single defeat against the USA, Kenya went on to claim a third-place spot on home soil to stay within the promotion bracket.

In the last leg in Montevideo, Uruguay, Kevin Wambua’s side secured two wins but suffered as many narrow defeats against the USA and Germany (12-7), thus failing to close the gap on the two promotion-chasing frontrunners.

Kenya had claimed wins against Belgium and hosts Uruguay in a 22-14 scoreline.

The USA, who finished first in the last leg in Uruguay’s capital, and Germany, the winner of the Nairobi leg, are currently the leading Kenyans in the promotion chase.

The two have officially secured their spot in the SVNS World Championship, with Kenya and Uruguay the favourites for the remaining slots.
