Harambee Stars trio suffer elimination in CAF competition
By Luke Oluoch, February 16, 2026Harambee Stars pair Moses Shumah and Duke Abuya endured a tough outing on the continental front, with mixed outcomes sealing their club’s elimination from the CAF Champions League group stages on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Former Kakamega Homeboyz striker Shumah featured for an hour as Power Dynamos suffered elimination from the CAF Champions League following a 3-1 loss to Pyramids FC in Cairo.
The Kenyan attacker’s side ended the hotly contested Group C in third with seven points. The Zambian champions trailed leaders Pyramids, with RS Berkane finishing second.
Shumah had helped Dynamos to a crucial 2-0 win over RS Berkane on Saturday, February 7, 2026, but proceeding against the Egyptian side proved uphill en route to the loss.
Meanwhile, in Tanzania, a winning end to their CAF CL ties proved not enough to guarantee Duke Abuya and Young Africans progress to the coveted quarter-finals stage.
Yanga edged Algerian outfit JS Kabylie 3-1 in Dar Es Salaam, with Abuya featuring among the starters in the tie.

The win left Yanga unable to proceed to the quarterfinal stage after being dwarfed by Al Ahly and AS FAR, who proceeded as the first- and second-placed teams from Group B.
In Egypt, two second-half goals from Al Masry summarised a painful end to Zesco United’s and Levis Opiyo’s exploits on the continental stage in a 2-0 loss.
The Kenyan custodian was named in goal for the tie, marking his back-to-back appearance for the team in CAF games.
Obiero’s heroics
The notable performance for Kenyans abroad went to Tranmere Rovers’ new boy, Zech Obiero.
The attacker marked his first appearance at Prenton Park in style, finding the back of the net to inspire his team to a commanding 2-1 victory over Crawley Town in a League Two encounter.
In Spain, Job Ochieng was named in the Real Sociedad matchday squad as his side slumped to a humbling 4-1 defeat at the Bernabéu in the La Liga fixture. Jack Onganya also made his debut for Spanish side Cadiz CF Mirandilla in their 1-1 draw against Chiclana FC.
In Tunisia, Alphonse Omija featured for 71 minutes as ES Sahel edged Jeunesse Sportive Kairouanaise 2-1 in the Tunisian Premier League.
Andreas debuts in Sweden
In Spain, Amos Wanjala started for Valencia B in their 2-2 draw against Poblense.
In Sweden, Andreas Odhiambo made his Enköpings SK debut; the former Kariobangi Sharks ace started the clash for Enköpings in a 3-0 defeat to AFC Eskilstuna in a friendly match.
