The 2026 transfer window marks a pivotal moment, particularly for women’s football, as emerging stars made historic leaps into top European leagues alongside key men’s international moves across Africa.
Valerie Nekesa
In a landmark move for Kenyan women’s football, highly rated 18-year-old attacker Valerie Nekesa has joined Spanish top-tier side CD Tenerife.
Signed on July 11, 2026, the Harambee Starlets international became the club’s second signing ahead of the new season, marking a major milestone in her blossoming career.
Elizabeth Mideva
Joining Nekesa in Europe’s paid ranks is Kenya U-20 striker Elizabeth Mideva, who officially sealed a move to Lithuanian top-flight giants FC Gintra on July 22, 2026. Mideva enjoyed a standout domestic campaign as Ulinzi Starlets’ top scorer, netting 13 goals in just 10 league games.
Her transition to Lithuania gives the lethal goalscorer an immediate stage to feature in the upcoming UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Marvin Nabwire
Over in the men’s game, midfielder Marvin Nabwire has emerged as the latest Kenyan export to the Zambian Super League after completing a move to Power Dynamos. The former AFC Leopards player was a pivotal figure for Kenya Police FC during their 2024/25 FKF Premier League title-winning run before they surrendered the crown to Gor Mahia.
Nabwire, who recently featured for Harambee Stars in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers, has already linked up with his new team for pre-season training. He arrives as part of Power Dynamos’ six-man recruitment drive alongside Amine Hiver, Mathews Chabala, Kafunti Saisada, Wilson Sosho Chisala, and Nsoh Fabrice Ndeh.
Henry Omollo
For the second successive season, Kakamega Homeboyz has exported top talent to the Zambian top flight.
Forward Henry Omollo completed a transfer to Mufulira, seeking to build on the growing legacy of Kenyan talent in Kitwe. Omollo arrives in Zambia following a successful stint with Nairobi United and a strong finish at Homeboyz.
Moses Shumah
Rounding out the high-profile moves, former FKF Premier League top scorer Moses Shumah is set to add to the growing contingent of Kenyan stars in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL). Shumah was officially unveiled by AmaZulu FC ahead of the new campaign.
The former Kakamega Homeboyz forward earned his high-profile move to South Africa after leading the line for Zambian champions Power Dynamos, where he spearheaded the Abayellow title charge with over 20 league goals.
