Gor Mahia skipper Philemon Otieno has sent out a passionate plea, imploring fans to rally behind the club now more than ever as K’Ogalo inch closer to reclaiming the league title following their 2025 heartbreak.

In a message posted on his Facebook page on Monday, April 27, 2026, Otieno, affectionately known as Mbish, thanked the fans for showing up to support the club.

He underscored the significance and perfect timing of their 99th Mashemeji Derby win against rivals AFC Leopards.

Thankful to fans

“We want to take a moment to sincerely appreciate all our fans for their incredible support. Your energy, passion, and belief in the team continue to drive us forward every single day. That derby win was massive—an important result, especially at this crucial stage of the season. It’s more than just three points; it’s a statement of intent and a reflection of the hard work and unity within the team,” he stated.

The victory moved Gor Mahia closer to another league title after a sustained period of pressure from Ingwe. K’Ogalo now enjoys a six-point cushion with only five matches remaining in the campaign.

Mbish, who had previously urged the squad to rise to the occasion and safeguard the Green Army’s pride, reminded supporters that the mission is not yet complete. He asserted that the club will need every fan behind them during this decisive title run-in.

Finish line

“This victory marks an important step in our journey toward the title, but the job is far from done. With five matches still to go, every moment counts. Now more than ever, we need you with us. Let’s stay united, stand strong together, and bring that same dedication and energy all the way to the finish line,” his statement concluded.

In his post-derby remarks, Otieno challenged the team to rise to the occasion and show Gor’s title credentials in the top table encounter.

“Playing against AFC always comes with a good feeling and is a motivation for us players in itself. It’s a game with stakes raised high, and for me, it is a big game, not only here but also across East Africa. We are ready as Gor Mahia to give a good show on Sunday,” he stated.
