The clash will be the first leg of a two-legged tie with Kenyans proceeding to Tanzania for the return leg a week later to determine the aggregate winner from the round.

Support the girls!

Ahead of the tie, Mohammed has implored Kenyans to wholheartedly come out and support the budding charges in a show of patriotism..

“The Rising Starlets are set to face Tanzania on Saturday, 7th February 2026, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in the first leg of the FIFA U 20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers,” he stated.

Let’s unite and fill the stadium with Kenyan pride and rally behind the girls as they chase their World Cup dream. Your presence at the stadium will be a significant boost to their morale and performance,” he added.

With a berth in the next round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at stake, the Rising Starlets will be aiming to make home advantage count in the first leg before seeking a positive result away in Tanzania.

The team will be hoping to leverage the experience of the bulk of players from the U17 team, which represented the county at the past Junior Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

History beckoning

Jackline Juma’s Emerging Starlets U17 side achieved a piece of history with their achievement, becoming the first team to achieve the elusive feat of qualifying for the global football showpiece.

The feat provided a fitting challenge for the men’s football and the Junior Stars.

Taking the challenge in stride, Junior Stars battled to qualify for the U20 AFCON game in Egypt in May 2025.

The provisional squad of 32 players already reported to camp and is ramping up preparations, focusing on both physical readiness and mental toughness.

It recently featured in a set of friendlies, losing a game to Highway Secondary School before picking up a victory over a Nairobi sports academy.
