FKF boss lauds Nairobi United’s exploits in debut appearance on continental stage
By Luke Oluoch, February 8, 2026Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohamed has praised Kenyan representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Nairobi United, for their run in the competition.
In a statement on his X page on Sunday, February 8, 2026, Hussein urged the league newbies to derive pride from their exploits, stating that they gave a good account on the continental stage.
Good run
“Best of luck, Nairobi United, in today’s CAF Confederation Cup against Wydad Athletic! You’ve had a good run so far with your debut on the continental stage; keep pushing, stay focused, and believe in yourselves,” his statement on X read.

Naibois are angling for a matchday 5 fixture at home against a star-studded Moroccan opposition, Wydad Casablanca, boasting star players such as Hakim Ziyech in its ranks, this Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The tie, however, remains a dead rubber for the Naibois, who claimed a piece of history by becoming only the second Kenyan team in recent times to advance to the coveted group stage of the CAF Inter-club competitions.

Their quest to punch above their weight and make it to the quarterfinals, however, went up in smoke after the dismal bow.
Finishing on a high
Naibois’ technical director, Salim Ali, has also revealed that they are targeting to conclude their CAF Confederation Cup with their heads held high after what he termed as a good experience against elite African opposition.
”We are trying to motivate the players to try and give us positive results. They have been performing well in terms of training. For us, we want to finish with honour. It is a good experience that we have had as a team; at the end of the day, we want to finish our last two matches positively.” Ali said.
After losing all four of its Group B matches and sitting at the bottom of the pool with zero points, progression is mathematically impossible for the club with the remaining two fixtures. Their maximum possible points tally would still fall short of the qualification threshold.
