Mount set to miss Man Utd friendly against Leeds

The former Chelsea academy graduate missed training on Monday, August 10, 2026, and Tuesday, August 11, 2026 and has been ruled out of the clash as Michael Carrick’s side steps up preparations for the English Premier League opener.
Mount was replaced less than 20 minutes into Saturday’s 1-1 friendly draw with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg, Sweden, adding to his ongoing injury bad luck.
The star has managed just over 50 league appearances in three seasons at United since his move from London. Carrick confirmed after the match that Mount took a knock.
Meanwhile, the clash could see several team stars who featured at the World Cup handed game time as squads race for optimum fitness levels ahead of the Premier League season in a couple of weeks.
Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo both rejoined the squad at their Ireland training camp on the evening of Sunday, August 9, 2026. According to Sky Sports, Lisandro Martinez joined up with United’s training camp in the Republic of Ireland late on Monday night, August 10, 2026, becoming the last of the players afforded an extended World Cup break to arrive.
Other early returnees included club captain Bruno Fernandes and summer recruit Youri Tielemans, who featured in United’s recent 1–1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
After Wednesday’s match in Dublin, United will head to Wrocław, Poland, for their final pre-season assignment against AC Milan and former boss Rúben Amorim.
United approaches the tie on the back of two preseason victories before a 1-1 draw against PSG slowed their cruise. Meanwhile, the Yorkshire club enters the contest in good form during pre-season, having most recently defeated RB Leipzig 2-0. That result followed an impressive 4-2 victory over Liverpool in Chicago.
Recent history
Leeds’ victory at Old Trafford last season ended a long wait for a league win at the venue, dating back to 1980. It was also only their fifth league victory over United since the Premier League era began in 1992.
