Liverpool turn attention to Porto youngster as Diomande uncertainty grows

Liverpool are believed to be weighing up a move for highly rated Porto forward Oskar Pietuszewski as they continue searching for more attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
This is after the hopes of landing RB Leipzig’s star Yan Diomande continue to fade away.
The Merseyside club have already strengthened their squad by bringing in Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but head coach Andoni Iraola is still eager to add more firepower before the Premier League season begins.
Liverpool opened their pre-season schedule with an impressive 4-2 victory against Sunderland, where academy prospects Kieran Morrison and Lewis Koumas delivered encouraging displays. Despite the emergence of talented youngsters, the coaching staff are still keen to recruit experienced wide attackers capable of making an immediate impact.

Pietuszewski emerges as a target
According to reports from Germany, Liverpool have been keeping close tabs on 18-year-old Polish sensation Oskar Pietuszewski, whose Porto contract reportedly includes a £51.2 million release clause.
The teenager only joined the Portuguese giants in January 2026, but his rapid development has already caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Pietuszewski has also earned four senior caps for Poland, although Borussia Dortmund are currently considered the frontrunners to secure his signature.
Backup option if Diomande deal collapses
Liverpool have spent much of the summer pursuing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, but their attempts have yet to bear fruit after a significant bid was rejected.
Their chances of signing the Ivory Coast international have reportedly become even more difficult, with Real Madrid increasing efforts to land the attacker and said to have already reached a verbal agreement on personal terms.

The Reds also remain admirers of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, although negotiations have not progressed significantly with either the French international or his club.
Another player linked with Liverpool is Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, who has reportedly been offered to the club. However, the Brazilian’s high salary expectations are thought to be a major obstacle.
As Iraola continues his search for a new right-sided attacker, Liverpool are also monitoring other potential options, including Said El Mala and Rayan, as the summer transfer window moves toward its closing stages.
