Kenyan Arsenal fans earn special praise as AFTV founder Robbie Lyle shares advice for local content creators

Kenya’s Arsenal supporters have once again been recognised among the finest anywhere in Africa, with AFTV founder Robbie Lyle praising their unmatched passion during his latest visit to the country. Lyle believes the enthusiasm displayed by Kenyan Gunners has created the perfect environment for a new generation of football content creators to thrive on the global stage.

Speaking in Nairobi during his second visit to Kenya as part of the AFTV Kenya Tour on Saturday, August 1, 2026, Lyle said the country’s football culture and rapidly expanding online community provide an ideal foundation for creators hoping to turn their love for the game into a successful career.

“We’ve always known Kenya has one of the strongest Arsenal communities in Africa,” Lyle stated.

He explained that his trip goes beyond interacting with supporters, saying AFTV also wants to mentor aspiring creators and demonstrate that producing football content can become a sustainable profession.

Interaction

“This visit isn’t just about meeting supporters; it’s about connecting with young creators, sharing ideas and showing that football content can become a career. Fans are no longer just watching football, hey’re helping shape the conversation around it.”

Lyle encouraged young Kenyans to remain patient while consistently producing original material instead of seeking overnight success. According to him, the digital age has opened countless opportunities for football enthusiasts beyond conventional media roles.

“Football has become a platform for opportunity,” Lyle explained. “If you’ve got creativity and consistency, there are real possibilities to build something meaningful around the game you love. We want young Kenyans to see that.”

He pointed out that today’s football media landscape offers careers in areas such as podcasting, live streaming, photography, graphic design, social media management and video production, allowing creators to earn an income from their passion.

Fellow AFTV personality Lee Judges also praised the energy shown by Kenyan football fans, insisting they already possess the ingredients needed for success and only need greater confidence in their abilities.

“The passion here is incredible. You see young people creating content before, during and after every match. That’s what football is about now, fans telling their own stories,” he said. “Hopefully our visit encourages even more creators to back themselves because there’s a huge audience waiting for authentic voices.”

Lyle highlighted AFTV‘s own rise as proof that supporter-led content can become a major media brand. What started as post-match interviews outside Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium has grown into one of the world’s most recognised independent football platforms with millions of followers.

He believes Kenya is well positioned to follow a similar path as more creators embrace platforms such as YouTube and TikTok while partnering with brands and organising football-related events.

Worldwide attention

The visit comes only a few months after Kenya attracted worldwide attention when thousands of Arsenal supporters filled the streets to celebrate the club’s Premier League triumph. The celebrations went viral across social media, further demonstrating the scale of the country’s football following and the influence of fan-created content.

The Nairobi media briefing was also attended by Serena Africa Group Marketing Director Maureen Okore and Safaricom Director of Brand and Marketing Zizwe Awuor, highlighting increasing corporate support for Kenya’s growing creator economy.

Lyle is touring Kenya alongside Cecil Jee Thomas, Lee Judges and Kenyan Lyle, with the group scheduled to meet Arsenal supporters at KonQa 254 in Nairobi on Sunday as they continue encouraging the country’s next generation of football content creators.
