Arsenal’s transfer round-up today

By , July 29, 2026

Arsenal continue to be one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window as preparations intensify for the new Premier League campaign. Manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are actively working to strengthen the squad while also assessing potential departures before the transfer deadline.

Vinicius Junior deal faces fresh uncertainty

Arsenal’s ambitious pursuit of Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior has encountered another setback. Reports indicate that the Spanish giants remain optimistic about retaining the Brazilian and are expected to hold contract renewal discussions with him before the end of the month.

Although the Gunners are closely monitoring the situation, no official bid has been submitted to Real Madrid. Any move for the 26-year-old would likely become the most expensive transfer in Arsenal’s history, making the deal increasingly difficult as the summer window progresses.

The North London club’s interest is largely linked to Vinicius’ contract status. With only one year remaining on his current agreement, Arsenal hope uncertainty over his future could create an opportunity. However, Madrid are eager to avoid the possibility of losing one of their biggest stars as a free agent in 2027.

Recent reports also suggest the player has yet to make a final decision on his long-term future, meaning Arsenal have not entirely abandoned hope of completing a sensational move.

Bruno Guimaraes negotiations gather pace

There has been more encouraging news regarding Arsenal’s pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

The Gunners are believed to have made significant progress after holding further discussions with Newcastle, while reports claim they have presented multiple proposals during negotiations. Some sources suggest Arsenal have even submitted a fresh package worth around €80 million, including performance-related add-ons.

Personal terms are reportedly no longer an issue, with Guimaraes said to be open to joining Arteta’s project. However, Newcastle insist they have not yet received an official offer, creating differing interpretations of the current stage of negotiations due to the involvement of intermediaries.

Arsenal are hoping to finalise an agreement before the end of July, especially with the Brazilian midfielder expected to return from his post-World Cup break shortly.

Martinelli’s future remains uncertain

Gabriel Martinelli has emerged as another player attracting transfer speculation.

According to reports, representatives have made several Italian clubs aware that the Brazilian winger could be available for around £40 million, with Roma among the clubs monitoring his situation.

Should Martinelli depart the Emirates, Arsenal would almost certainly look to recruit another left-sided attacker before approving any sale, with Vinicius Junior remaining one of their dream targets despite the complications surrounding that move.

Other Arsenal updates

Away from transfer negotiations, several positive developments have emerged around the club.

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes are both expected to rejoin first-team training later this week ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season clash with Girona.

Bukayo Saka also attracted attention after unveiling a new hairstyle, joking that the simpler look would save him valuable time and allow him to focus more on football rather than maintaining his hair.

Elsewhere, reports claim Arsenal have opened discussions with Sporting CP over a possible move for defender Ivan Fresneda, while other defensive options continue to be monitored as the club looks to reinforce the back line.

There were also celebrations for Gabriel Martinelli, who recently married his partner Isabella, with fans and teammates sending their congratulations.

As the transfer window moves into its decisive phase, Arsenal remain heavily involved in several major deals. While Vinicius Junior appears to be the club’s most ambitious target, Bruno Guimaraes currently looks the more attainable signing, with negotiations continuing behind the scenes.
