With a potential deal for Vinícius Júnior hitting a stalemate, Arsenal are believed to be in advanced negotiations to sign Guimarães. More moves could follow at the Emirates as the transfer window heats up, particularly after manager Mikel Arteta reassured supporters on Saturday, July 30, that the club remains active in the market despite growing criticism over a quiet pre-season.
According to the BBC, Arsenal have made significant progress toward securing the Newcastle captain. A transfer fee approaching £80 million is expected, with the Gunners hoping to finalise the deal within the coming days.
Reports on Friday, July 31, also indicate potential departures from North London, with academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri topping the list.

Looking ahead to the new campaign, Mikel Arteta outlined his high ambitions for the club as they head out, as they look to start their league defence as reigning English champions.
“We have the ambition to maintain our competitive edge, to keep improving day by day over the next 11 months,” Arteta stated.
“We must sustain our positive energy, commitment, and drive all the way through to May. We are fully prepared; we have a clear plan, and with the right spirit and belief, we can achieve great things as a club,” he said in an interview with the club.
Gunners have so far signed Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, with the star already joining the team’s preseason in Spain.
