Gor Mahia FC assistant coach Bismarck Kobi-Mensah has termed the side’s elimination from the 2026 FKF Cup at the hands of lower division side BB Bread as unacceptable and embarrassing.

K’Ogalo were knocked out of the Cup competition courtesy of a painful 1-0 defeat on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium, a Round of 32 knockout reality that forced the club Chairman Ambrose Rachier to hold a crisis meeting.

Even though the team’s technical bench decided to rotate the squad and hand players who have not been featuring for league matches, Bismarck said it does not really matter who played on Sunday, insisting that it does not sit well for the record Kenyan Premier League champions to be humiliated by a team of BB Bread calibre.

As attention shifts to league assignments, Bismark also noted that Gor Mahia players have taken full responsibility for the BB Bread humiliation and are keen to make amends when they face Ulinzi in their upcoming fixture.

Unacceptable defeat

”We need to let them know the embarrassment, anything that happened was unacceptable, this is Gor Mahia. For me, it does not really matter which players you parade, especially from a lower club. The players have also admitted that they disappointed us, but today, we have moved on from that disappointment; the focus is on the Sunday game against Ulinzi,” Bismarck said on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, as Gor Mahia players regrouped for a clash against Ulinzi Stars on Sunday, March 14, 2026.

The Ghananian tactician admitted that a trip to Ulinzi Sports Complex will not be a walk in the park as the Soldiers, who are trying to evade the looming relegation, will be eager to stage an upset against the league leaders.

Shifting attention

”It is going to be a really tough game, the best thing is to prepare really well. They are battling relegation, and we want to stay at the top. We really want to respond well after Sunday’s disappointment.” He added.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia are leading the table with 50 points in 23 outings, seven points above second-placed and arch rivals AFC Leopards, who will be entertaining Mathare United in their next league fixture.
