Cricket: Kenya to host Super 90 League for three consecutive seasons

Cricket Kenya has announced a three-season partnership with the Super 90 League that will bring the fast-paced 90-ball competition to Nairobi, beginning with Season 4 in November 2026.
The league will be staged at Gymkhana Cricket Club, with Kenya set to host three consecutive editions covering Seasons 4, 5 and 6. The agreement is expected to establish a long-term presence for the international cricket property while providing Kenyan fans with an opportunity to watch recognised cricketing names alongside former local stars.
Super 90 selected Kenya as its next destination following previous editions held in India and Sri Lanka. The organisers cited the country’s cricketing heritage, passionate supporters, sporting culture and potential to host major international cricket and entertainment events.
Season 4 will feature six franchise teams competing in 18 matches under the competition’s 90-ball format.
One of the key attractions will be the inclusion of two retired Kenyan cricketers in each franchise. The initiative will give former Kenyan players an opportunity to return to competitive action in front of home supporters while sharing the stage with established international cricketing figures.
The arrival of the Super 90 League is also expected to create opportunities beyond the cricket field, including for sponsors, broadcasters, hospitality businesses, tourism operators and local event-production companies. The organisers also anticipate increased employment opportunities and fan engagement.

Television coverage, digital platforms, social media and international promotion will be used to showcase Nairobi and Kenya to audiences in different markets, with the wider objective of strengthening the country’s profile as an international sporting destination.
Addressing members of the press on Friday, August 21, 2026, Cricket Kenya chairman Bhavesh H Gohil welcomed the partnership, highlighting the country’s longstanding relationship with the sport.
“Kenya has a rich cricketing history and a passionate cricket community. We are delighted to welcome Super 90 to Nairobi and especially pleased that this is a three-season partnership.
“The presence of international cricket legends, together with two retired Kenyan players in every franchise, will create a strong connection with our supporters. We believe this tournament can generate renewed excitement around cricket in Kenya and also showcase our country as a destination for major international sporting events.” Gohil said.
The three-year arrangement is designed to provide continuity rather than make Super 90 a one-off event in Kenya. Cricket Kenya, Super 90 and commercial partners will therefore have an extended period to develop relationships with supporters, sponsors and other stakeholders.
Super 90 Managing Director Jitendra Singh Gaur said Kenya was selected because of its strong cricketing foundations and potential as a sporting destination.
“Kenya was a natural choice for the next chapter of Super 90 because of its cricketing heritage, passionate supporters and international sporting potential.
“Our objective is not simply to come to Nairobi for one tournament. We want to build Super 90 here over three seasons and create a strong connection with Cricket Kenya, Kenyan cricket fans, former players, local businesses and commercial partners.

“We believe Super 90 can bring back the excitement of seeing well-known cricketing names in Nairobi while also celebrating the contribution of Kenya’s own former cricketers.”
The Super 90 League will bring together international cricketing names, Kenyan legends, franchise competition and entertainment in its compact 90-ball format, with the organisers targeting an experience suited to both cricket fans and families.
Details of the participating franchises, international and Kenyan players, sponsors, broadcast partners, fixtures and ticketing arrangements are expected to be announced ahead of Season 4.
Super 90 Season 4 will be held in Nairobi in November 2026, marking the start of the league’s three-season journey in Kenya.
