Clarke Oduor impresses on club return after Harambee Stars appearance

By , April 8, 2026

Kenyan Clarke Oduot made an empathetic return to club action with Grimsby Town as the Mariners claimed a 2-0 win over Crawley Town on Monday, April 6, 2026.

Despite not scoring, the versatile ace proved a constant threat to the opponent’s attacks. He averaged 100 per cent both in completed passes and accurate long balls, as well as 71 per cent in duels won.

Oduor, who featured for the Kenyan national team Harambee Stars in the concluded FIFA friendlies, where Kenya finished in third, was  the only change in the team for the tie

Goals from Jaze Kabia and Harvey Rodgers secured a crucial win for David Artell’s team, which continued a fine league run in League Two.

Helping Mariners

He specifically was at the centre of the match’s turning point after employing his bag of tricky feints against Crawley captain Jay Williams, whose response of slamming the ball to the Kenyan led to the opponent’s dismissal, leaving the home side with ten men for the rest of the game.

Speaking afterwards, he said his focus was on making the best impact and helping his team.

“It was good, especially at this stage of the season; I think everyone just has to be ready because when chances come, we have to try and take them, so I felt like I did that today in the 70 minutes that I was on,” he said.

Kenyans abroads

His performance continued a fine run for Kenyan players in the European league, following up from similar displays by Sweden-based Stanly Wilson Omondi and Jonah Ayunga.

Kenyan prodigy and former Karionbangi Shars ace Stanley Wilson Omondi bagged an assist to the match winner as AIK beat Halmstad 2-1, kicking off their league start with a win on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

Deployed at left back, showing strong positional discipline and attacking support, Wilson picked up Zadok Yohana for an African match-winning combination to seal the points for the hosts after Halmstad pulled level in the 64th minute.

Meanwhile in Scotland, Ayunga marked a heroic return to action, helping his club to a 2-0 win over Aberdeen in a Scottish Premiership tie played on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

He needed only 40 minutes to make his mark, burying a low drive after some excellent work from a teammate to send the visitors in front.
