Calafiori: Arsenal fighting for everything in crucial end-season fixtures

Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has underscored the Gunners’ title push, asserting that the team will not relent in their chase for silverware this season.

Mikel Arteta’s cruising team is in contention for two major titles, with the club just a game away from a first UEFA Champions League final since the 2005/06 season, when they lost to Barcelona.

The Londoners are also leading the EPL domestic race after edging Fulham 3-0 to move six points clear at the helm of the standings with three games on their roster.

Gyokeres’ double

A brace from Viktor Gyokeres and a goal from Bukayo Saka were enough for the Gunners to collect maximum points at the Emirates Stadium.

While hailing Saturday, May 2, win over Fulham as a clear message in an evening of unbelievable energy and crowd, the Italian rallied the team to step up their chase as the Gunners continue a run of games in the final stretch of the league

“We really enjoyed the game; the atmosphere was good and so was the crowd. It was a clear message from us, but we have to keep the focus as on Tuesday we have a massive game too,” he stated.

“We are fighting for everything at this moment. We know the stage we are in: the end of the season, and it is very important: we have to be ready for everything and keep on the chase,” he stated.

Arsenal moves six clear

The win came at a crucial point as the Gunners moved six points above challengers Manchester City, who will play on Monday against Everton as the tense two-horse race between the Premier League rivals continues.

Meanwhile, the triumph was Arsenal’s 41st victory of the season across all competitions, equalling the club record for most wins in a single campaign. That record was set back in 1970/71, the club’s first league and FA Cup double-winning season, when they won 41 of their 64 matches.
