CAF president commends Pamoja AFCON 2027 preparations after Nairobi meeting

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has commended the progress made in preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations after a high-level review meeting.

According to an update by FKF President Hussein Mohammed on Monday, May 11, 2026, the Football Kenya Federation boss said the high-level meeting in Nairobi focused on assessing readiness for the continental tournament under the Pamoja AFCON 2027 framework.

Motsepe expressed confidence in the direction of preparations, noting steady progress and improved coordination among the host nations.

“Dr Motsepe commended the significant progress made by the three host nations and expressed confidence that Pamoja AFCON 2027 will be a resounding success.”FKF President wrote.

The Nairobi meeting brought together senior football officials and government representatives involved in delivering the tournament.

Key updates were presented on stadium readiness, infrastructure development, transport planning, and overall organisational structures required for AFCON 2027.

CAF leadership used the session to evaluate progress against set timelines as preparations enter a more advanced phase.

Regional Coordination

He emphasised that joint planning remains central to ensuring smooth delivery of the tournament under the Pamoja framework.

“The host nations reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration to ensure full readiness and to deliver the most successful AFCON in the competition’s history”Hussein noted.

Tournament Outlook

The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be the first edition co-hosted by three East African nations, marking a historic milestone for the region.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off in June 2027, bringing together Africa’s top national teams for the continent’s biggest football competition.

Motsepe expressed confidence in the preparations, citing visible progress and strong commitment from local organisers.
