CAF confirms fixture schedule for 2026/27 Champions League and Confederation Cup

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially released the competition calendar for the 2026/27 editions of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The new continental club campaign will begin in September 2026 with the preliminary qualifying rounds before progressing to the group phase in late November. The tournament will conclude with the finals, which are set to take place between 9 and 31 May 2027.

CAF also confirmed that the prize money remains unchanged, with the Champions League winners set to receive USD 6 million, while the Confederation Cup champions will earn USD 4 million.

Preliminary round schedule

The opening qualifying round will be played over two legs. The first-leg matches are scheduled for 4-6 September 2026, while the return fixtures will be held from 11-13 September 2026.

The second qualifying round will also be contested over two legs, with the first matches taking place between 16 and 18 October 2026 and the decisive return legs scheduled for 23-25 October 2026.

Group stage fixtures

The group phase of both competitions will begin at the end of November and will follow this timetable:

Matchday 1: 27-29 November 2026

Matchday 2: 4-6 December 2026

Matchday 3: 18-20 December 2026

Matchday 4: 8-10 January 2027

Matchday 5: 15-17 January 2027

Matchday 6: 22-24 January 2027

Knockout phase dates

The quarter-finals are scheduled across two legs, with the first matches taking place from 26-28 February 2027 and the second legs from 5-7 March 2027.

The semi-finals will follow in April, with the first legs set for 9-11 April 2027 and the return fixtures from 16-18 April 2027.

The finals of both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup will be staged during the period 9-31 May 2027, bringing the 2026/27 continental club season to a close.

Kenya will be represented by Gor Mahia in the CAF Champions League by virtue of being the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation Premier League winners, while Tusker will be flying the country’s flag in the CAF Confederation after clinching the 2026 FKF Cup.
