Reviewing progress
The high-level meetings, set for Wednesday, April 22, to Thursday, April 23, 2026, in Kampala, will focus on reviewing progress and outlining the next critical steps in preparations for the continental showpiece. Representatives from the three host governments, football federation leaders and senior CAF officials will gather to assess the plans for the tournament.
”The meeting will bring together representatives of the Governments of the three host nations, the Presidents of the three Member Associations, Acting CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu and CAF senior administration from various functional areas including Competitions, Commercial, Broadcasting, Safety and Security, Finance and other roles,” CAF said in a statement.

Among those expected to attend are presidents of the three national football bodies, along with Acting CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu and senior CAF administrators drawn from departments such as competitions management, commercial operations, broadcasting, safety and security, and finance.
The two-day engagement forms part of an ongoing coordinated planning effort among CAF and the host countries. Key discussion areas will include stadium and infrastructure readiness, procurement processes, financial planning, media operations, ticketing arrangements and overall commercial strategies, all essential elements in delivering a successful tournament.
This opening round of meetings highlights the shared commitment between CAF and the three East African nations to maintain close cooperation as preparations intensify. CAF has reaffirmed its intention to continue supporting Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in strengthening coordination structures and ensuring full operational preparedness across all major aspects of tournament organisation.
Kenya plans ahead
In Kenya, one of the three host nations, the national government has already established the Pamoja Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 Local Organising Committee (LOC), shortly after the state had remitted the required Ksh3.9 billion hosting fee for the tournament.

The committee will be led by Nicholas Musonye as the chairman and Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed, his assistant, marking a major step in preparations for the historic continental tournament that Kenya will co-host with Tanzania and Uganda.
According to a special issue of The Kenya Gazette dated March 30, 2026, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Salim Mvurya, announced the appointment of members to the National Steering Committee and the formation of the LOC secretariat to oversee the planning and execution of the prestigious tournament.
