Ayunga, Wilson and other Harambee Stars players on club duty as European leagues resume

By , April 17, 2026

Harambee Stars striker Jonah Ayunga is among the Kenyan legion abroad angling for decisive encounters as major European leagues resume this Friday, April 17, 2026.

Ayunga and his St. Mirren teammates are aiming to reach their second cup final of the season when they take on Celtic FC in the semi-finals of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

The high-stakes clash at Hampden Park will see the Saints hoping to replicate their heroics against the Hoops.

St. Mirren famously beat Celtic in December 2025 to lift the Premier Sports Cup in a historic 3-1 win, where Ayunga netted twice in the second half to secure the silverware.

However, Sunday’s clash promises another tough test, as Celtic enjoys a superior head-to-head record this season. The Hoops have edged out St. Mirren in all three of their league meetings so far, winning 1-0 on each occasion.

Championship action for Sichenje and Vyner

In England, Collins Sichenje and Zak Vyner face contrasting fortunes in their respective Championship engagements.

Sichenje’s Charlton Athletic will be in action on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 5:00 PM in an away clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

Nathan Jones’ side has had to do without the Kenyan defender recently, but they are hopeful he will make the match-day squad after he resumed training on the grass with his teammates. Sichenje, who arrived in England at the start of 2026, has missed several league ties due to a niggling muscle injury. Currently ranked 12th with 49 points, the Addicks will be looking for a win against the bottom-placed Owls.

Meanwhile, Zak Vyner’s Wrexham AFC will be at home on the same day, hosting Stoke City at the Racecourse Ground.

Wilson Omondi’s rising star in Sweden

On Sunday, April 18, 2026, Sweden-based Stanley Wilson Omondi returns to Allsvenskan action as AIK hosts Kalmar FF.

After helping the Stockholm club to a perfect debut in a 2-1 win over Halmstad on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Wilson continued his fine form for Jose Riverio’s team on Monday, April 13, 2026. He played the full 90 minutes and emerged as one of the standout performers for AIK Fotboll, earning an impressive 7.7 rating.

The versatile star already has one assist in the opening two games of the season. He is currently enjoying a breakout campaign with the first team after several successful loan spells.
