Arsenal vs Everton: Team news, what managers said

By , March 14, 2026

Arsenal will look to widen their advantage at the summit of the Premier League when they welcome Everton FC to north London on Saturday evening, March 14, 2026.

Having strengthened their position at the top in their previous league outing, Arsenal now have another chance to increase the gap over their rivals. The match kicks off earlier in the day before Manchester City take on West Ham United, meaning the Gunners could briefly stretch their lead to ten points. That scenario appears possible considering Everton’s struggles when visiting N5, where they have managed only one victory in their last 29 league appearances.

However, the Merseyside club arrive with confidence. Under the guidance of David Moyes, Everton have been impressive away from home this season and will hope to add another strong result for their travelling supporters.

Everton’s strong away record

Everton travels to the capital after an 11-day pause in their schedule. While the break has given them time to recover, they might have preferred to play sooner following consecutive wins over Newcastle United and Burnley FC. Those results lifted the Toffees to eighth place and reignited hopes of qualifying for European football for the first time since 2017.

Despite adapting to their new home stadium, Everton have been more successful on their travels. The team has suffered just one defeat in its last ten away league matches and has remained unbeaten in six road fixtures since losing 2-0 to Chelsea FC in December. Notable victories have come against Manchester United and Aston Villa, as well as recent successes at Fulham FC and Newcastle.

Since Moyes resumed his role as manager in January last year, only Arsenal have collected more Premier League points away from home. Everton have earned 41 during that span, while Arsenal have 48. The Scottish manager has also overseen a major defensive improvement, turning a team once threatened by relegation into one boasting the league’s third-best defensive record with just 33 goals conceded in 29 games.

What managers said

Mikel Arteta believes the team’s mentality and focus will be crucial in maintaining their position.
Arteta:
“You just have to go in that dressing room and feel the mood, the energy and the way we talk to each other and how much we value the position that we have right now and how much we want to be in the same position at the end of the season. That depends on us. Our focus is on what we have to do, what we have to maintain and what we have to improve together.

“If you’re in our seat from competition to competition, we’re going to play in three different competitions in seven days. So that drags you from one to another, the urgency to get prepared, to translate the messages that you want, to make the right decisions and to make sure that we arrive into any game in the best possible way.”

Moyes also praised Arsenal’s progress under Arteta.
Moyes:
“They’ve done brilliant, Arsenal. Mikel has done brilliant. He’s got a great team, and I think they’ve probably got as big a chance this year of winning the league as they’ve ever had. So, I’d have to question the people who have been critical.”

“They’re a strong, physical side and I don’t see a problem with any of that – it’s part of the game. If there’s this thing out there where everybody has to play the beautiful game, and everything has to be perfect, if we all did that, it would be boring.”

Team updates

Arsenal will assess the fitness of Leandro Trossard and Martin Ødegaard after both players missed the midweek clash against Bayer Leverkusen due to injury concerns.

Ben White returned to the bench in Germany, while Mikel Merino remains the club’s only long-term absentee following foot surgery last month.
For Everton, Charly Alcaraz and Seamus Coleman are likely to miss the game through injury. Meanwhile, Jack Grealish could be ruled out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a stress fracture in his foot.

For Everton, defender Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to be available, though his minutes may be managed after recovering from a lengthy hamstring problem.
