Arsenal move closer to EPL glory after getting past stubborn Burnley
Arsenal have moved within an inch of glory after getting past the already relegated side, Burnley, on Monday night, May 18, 2026, in a match at the Emirates.
Kai Havertz became the match hero after heading home after meeting Bukayo Saka’s 36th-minute corner. The Gunners hit the woodwork several times but were unable to convert their second of the night while keeping Burnley at bay.
5 points clear
The crucial win put Mikel Arteta’s charges five points above Manchester City, who must beat Bournemouth on Tuesday night, May 19, 2026.

If City manage to get past Bournemouth, Arsenal’s victory at Crystal Palace on the final day will see their name engraved on the Premier League trophy for the first time in 22 years.
The opening half went the way of a game in which a title-chasing side at home was facing another side winless in their previous 27 league encounters, and, as expected, the Arteta boys dominated throughout.
Dominant display
Arsenal went close to easing that tension in 14 minutes, but Leandro Trossard’s effort ended up thumping the base of the post.
Some neat interplay between Gunners front men caused the Clarets plenty of issues, and next to seriously test Max Weiss was Eze, who saw a neat flick and shot on the turn fly straight at the Burnley keeper, who moments later was scrambling when a miscued cross from Saka looked to be creeping in at the far post, but instead dropped just wide.

A threatening moment for Burnley came when Eze’s loose pass led to Jaidon Anthony trying his luck from 25 yards, but he saw it whizz over David Raya’s goal.
With that win, Arsenal head to Crystal Palace on the final day of the Premier League season, where they will be looking to lift the EPL title after a 22-year drought.
The Gunners are aiming to end a 22-year wait for Premier League glory following three consecutive second-place finishes, and Arteta says they are driven on by the pain of those near-misses.
Should have trophies
“When you see the trajectory and what we’ve built in the last few years, and especially in the last four years in terms of consistency, the amount of points and wins, we should have a few big trophies already,” the Arsenal manager told Sky Sports before the match.
“That only happens in this league, but that drives you to be even better. So, we still have to make that step of finalising the business and that’s the opportunity we have in the next three days.”
