AFC Leopards target Murang’a Seal’s scalp to pile pressure on Gor Mahia’s title push
By Joel Masibo, April 5, 2026Football Kenya Federation Premier League title hopefuls, AFC Leopards, will be out to pile pressure on leaders Gor Mahia at the summit of the league standings when they face Murang’a SEAL in Round 27 of the ongoing campaign at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Ingwe will approach the fixture knowing that Gor Mahia’s drop of two crucial points against Kariobangi Sharks in their 0-0 stalemate on Saturday, April 4, 2026, will give them an advantage if they edge SEAL at their familiar Nyayo Stadium fortress starting at 2:00 pm local time.
With the league heading into the home stretch, K’Ogalo lead the pack with 57 points, as Leopards come hot on their heels in second with 52 points, separated by only five points ahead of the Murang’a SEAL duel.
However, in a gesture of sportsmanship following the draw at Moi Kasarani on Saturday, April 4, 2026, Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor admitted the clash was delicately poised and could have gone either way.

“The game could go either way. They (Sharks) had chances to score, and any side could have lost the game. So the result is a fair outcome,” he stated.
“The opponent is a team that knows their game. They disturbed us and never let us settle, to their credit. The first half was not that good, and we wanted to come up for the final half more assertively, but it was not to be,” he added.
Despite having an extended period of rest during the international break, a return to league action proved frustrating as Sharks battled Gor in a closely fought encounter that saw both teams come close to scoring from open chances, notably through Samuel Kapen and David Majaka.
