AFC Leopards boss welcomes European supporters as carnival fan energy rocks the league
By Luke Oluoch, March 4, 2026AFC Leopards president Boniface Ambani has shared his delight in welcoming new sets of fans to the team.
In a statement on his Facebook page on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Ambani revealed that a contingent of 10 members from the Netherlands joined Leopards fans in their memorable league victory against Shabana at Nyayo National Stadium.
According to the chairman, the fans’ interaction with the pair during a match against Posta Rangers a couple of weeks ago sparked their interest.

Following the carnival mood in that encounter, the fans promised to return and kept their word by inviting more supporters to the next match, showcasing an appeal that transcends borders.
Ambani’s remarks come as week 22 of the Kenyan league recorded a memorable atmosphere from fans across the country.

The AFC Leopards vs. Shabana clash led the way, with politicians such as former Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba and FKF officials among those who graced the occasion.
The fan fever wasn’t confined to the capital. A similar massive turnout has also been witnessed beyond Nairobi, with Bukhungu Stadium hosting sizeable numbers of fans thronging games for Kakamega Homeboyz, including their latest against APS Bomet.
A multiple teargas incident was the only blip of the highly attended clash.

Images of fans in the terraces erupting in genuine joy and passionate fans in their favourite teams’ regalia on the stands affirm just how the community-run football clubs remain key and the heart of sustainable clubs.
The epic atmosphere and fanfare have been attributed to the rise of more community-based clubs, with the advent of Murang’a Seal also adding to the unforgettable atmosphere, especially during their home matches at San Sebastian Park.
League broadcaster Azam Sports aptly summarised the occasion through its lenses with a scenic image of the week’s action.
