Kenyan international and Harambee Stars striker Moses Shumah is firmly on course for a record-breaking season in the Zambian Super League after smashing the elusive 20-goal barrier.

Shumah reached the landmark on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, after netting a clinical brace to help title-chasing Power Dynamos secure a 4-2 victory over Kabwe Warriors.

This feat sees him equal an eight-year record that has stood since 2018, when Idriss Mbombo last reached the 20-goal mark in the top-tier league.

With several matches still left in the season, the Kenyan marksman is well-positioned to set a new modern record if he maintains his current prolific form.

Shumah is also within sight of the legendary all-time league haul of 26 goals, set by Winston Kalengo for Zanaco FC during the 2006 season.

New King of Goals

The striker has already surpassed the goal tallies of previous seasons; last year’s joint top scorers, Congolese forward Idriss Mbombo and Titus Chansa finished the campaign with just 13 goals each.

Shumah is now aiming to become the first Kenyan to finish as the league’s overall top scorer, a milestone that somehow eluded Harambee Stars legend Jesse Were, who, despite dominating the league with Zesco United for years and becoming the club’s all-time leading scorer, never officially claimed the league’s Golden Boot.

Notably, Shumah’s current form represents a three-goal improvement from the 17 goals that earned him the FKF Premier League Golden Boot last season.

Speaking recently after hitting the milestone, Shumah credited his success to a relentless focus on constant improvement.

“I did not know the record, but I can say I feel good. My aim was to beat last season’s record; I scored 17 goals, so this season I was trying to beat that. On my own, I am improving as an individual, and also if you score such a number, it means you are pushing your team somewhere better,” he said in an interview with a Zambian portal, Bolanews.

With AbaYellow closing in on a successful title defence, now sitting pretty at the summit, the all-time scoring record also remains within reach for the unstoppable Kenyan hitman in the remaining seven games.
