By Paulette Mboga, June 8, 2026Police in Kuresoi are investigating the killing of a 40-year-old woman whose dismembered remains were reportedly discovered inside her home on Saturday, June 6, 2026, night.
The victim was identified as Evelyn Nyarinda. The discovery was made after officers visited the couple’s house following reports of the incident.
According to information from the scene, a 50-year-old man is a person of interest in the killing of his wife before dismembering her body. Police officers later recovered the remains from the house as investigations into the matter began.
Speaking to a local media house on Monday, June 8, 2026, relatives of the deceased said the person of interest attempted to conceal the remains after the killing. They explained that the remains were reportedly packed into several cement bags that were found inside the home.
According to relatives, the man stuffed Evelyn Nyarinda’s remains into five cement bags and filled a container with her blood.

Police also recovered a blood-stained axe from the scene. The weapon is expected to form part of the investigation as officers work to establish exactly what happened inside the house before the woman’s death.
Another family tragedy
This comes after a family of four died following a suspected domestic dispute that ended in an arson attack in the Runda area of Thika West Sub-County in Kiambu County.
Police said they responded to reports of a house fire at a rental house on the evening of June 5, 2026. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the fire had already been extinguished and four family members lying inside the house with severe burn injuries.
The victims were identified as Martin Grison Kamau, 34, his wife Phyllis Wambui Waweru, six-year-old Talan Kamau and four-year-old Terence Waweru Kamoko. Police said Kamau was found unconscious with extensive burns, while his wife was semi-conscious and had severe burn injuries.
The two children were also found with serious injuries. Talan Kamau had a deep cut on the forehead in addition to severe burns, while Terence Waweru Kamoko had serious burn injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Kamau sent the children to a nearby shop before attacking his wife. Police said he is suspected of pouring a corrosive substance believed to be acid on her before the incident that later ended in the deadly fire.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing as police seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.
