Weatherman predicts sunshine with isolated showers across Kenya
By William Muthama, February 11, 2026Kenya is set for a mix of sunshine and isolated showers on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD).
The agency has forecast mainly sunny intervals across most parts of the country, with brief and scattered showers expected in certain highland and western areas.
Residents should expect partly cloudy conditions in the morning, followed by sunny spells in the afternoon.
Some regions, particularly the highlands west and east of the Rift Valley, may experience light showers or thunderstorms, though these are expected to be brief and isolated.
Highlands and Rift Valley
Counties in the highlands west of the Rift Valley, including Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Siaya, Homa Bay, Kericho, Nandi, Bomet, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Trans-Nzoia, and Narok, are forecast to have mainly sunny intervals, with showers and thunderstorms in a few low-lying areas during the afternoon.

The highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, Kiambu, Tharaka Nithi, Laikipia, and Nyandarua, will see partly cloudy mornings followed by sunny intervals, with afternoon showers possible in high ground areas.
Northeastern and coastal counties
Northwestern counties, including Turkana and Samburu, are expected to have partly cloudy skies overnight, with sunny intervals during the day and strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots forecast in Turkana.
Northeastern counties, including Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Isiolo, will experience partly cloudy conditions at night, sunny intervals during the day, and strong southeasterly winds over 25 knots in Marsabit.
“Sunny intervals expected in the morning. Mainly sunny intervals in the afternoon with a chance of showers over a few places,” KMD noted.

Southeastern counties, including Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado, are likely to have partly cloudy skies at night followed by sunny intervals during the day.
Coastal counties, including Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River, will enjoy sunshine throughout the day, with occasional clouds.
Temperatures across the country will range between 25°C and 37°C, with cooler highs in the highlands and the hottest conditions in the northern and northeastern lowlands.
Sunrise across the country will range between 6:27 am and 6:51 am, while sunset is expected between 6:42 pm and 6:58 pm, giving residents plenty of daylight for outdoor activities.
