The fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving the nation in shock and prompting an emergency response from security agencies, firefighters, and medical teams.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed that 16 students died in the incident while 79 others sustained injuries.

Seven of the injured students were admitted to the hospital for further treatment, while others received outpatient care.
