Salasya swears to buy nail cutter after painful surgery

By , December 9, 2025

Mumia East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has revealed that he will start buying a nail cutter following a painful surgical procedure.

In a statement shared on his Instagram account on Monday, December 8, 2025, Salasya said the surgery was a result of his habit of biting his nails. He admitted that he had ignored proper nail care, such as trimming nails or visiting a manicurist, which eventually caused a painful abscess.

Salasya said he has now decided to stop biting his nails and take better care of them. He humorously shared that he will begin buying a nail cutter from now on to avoid such painful experiences in the future.

He also added that he has learned a valuable lesson from the ordeal, describing the pain as unbearable but now relieved after the abscess was treated.

The lawmaker reflected on his health and well-being, and jokingly connected it to his athletic past, highlighting his determination to maintain better personal care habits.

“Watu wenye hawapendi kukata makucha na wembe ama kwenda manicure kazi yao ni kuuma makucha kama mimi sasa ona it has led to this surgical operation. Kwanzia leo nanunua nail cutter 😂 😆 😂 😆 mambo ya kuuma makucha nimekataa uchungu nimesikia na abscess imetolewa wacha tu 😆 😂 😆 😂 na vyenye mimi ni tegemeo 200 metres race hapa Uganda wacha tu,” he said.

Loosely translated as;

“People who don’t like cutting their nails or using a nail file, or going for a manicure, their job is to bite their nails like me. Now see, it has led to this surgical operation. From today, I’m buying a nail cutter 😂 😆 😂 😆 I’ve decided to stop biting my nails. The pain has been felt, and the abscess has been removed, let it be 😆 😂 😆 😂 And as for me, I’m a 200-meter race contender here in Uganda, so let it be,” he said.
