Salasya demands autopsy transparency in Jirongo’s death
By Ascah Mwango, December 17, 2025Mumias East Member of Parliament has raised concerns over the handling of the body of the late former Lugari MP, Cyrus Jirongo, calling for transparency and the release of a post-mortem report.
In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Salasya said he was disturbed by images of leaders standing at the entrance of Lee Funeral Home ready to receive Jirongo’s body while he was in Kampala.

“I saw some leaders standing at the door of Lee funeral, ready to receive the body of the late CJ, while I was here in Kampala. Can they give us the status report of the body at the time they received the body ama were just there for a photoshoot naanza sasa kukasirika,” Salasya stated.
The MP questioned why the post-mortem report had not been made public, saying the family and the nation deserve clarity on the cause of death.
“Since it’s in the public domain that Kenyans are now realising the truth, where is the postmortem report on the body so that the family of the deceased can heal and the entire nation that believes Kenya should be a secure country where anyone and everybody can live without fear or intimidation,” he said.
Salasya noted that while death is inevitable, every death must be properly investigated, regardless of who the victim is.
“We accept death exists, but every death must be justified, even that of a street child, because he or she has a right to live, even those with mental problems,” he said.

He added that Kenyans should not live in fear, stressing that safety is a shared responsibility across political divides.
“We must make Kenya a secure country, not a country where every person is wondering whether he or she will see the sun tomorrow. And this should not be a call for those in opposition but even to those in gvt because power is transient and both in gvt and opposition have a right to life,” Salasya stated.
Calling for unity, the MP said the matter should concern all Kenyans, not a specific group.
“Let this be a concern to everybody and not a section of Kenyans. We are all Kenyans and we shall go away in 100 years to come another generation will come after us, and we must be caring citizens,” he added.

Cyrus Jirongo died in the early hours of December 13, 2025, following a head-on collision involving his vehicle and a Climax Company passenger bus along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway at Karai, Naivasha. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police investigations into the crash are ongoing. The bus driver was released on cash bail as detectives continue to review CCTV footage, witness statements, and forensic evidence to establish the circumstances leading to the fatal accident.
