PHOTOS: Ruto condoles with family of late Jirongo at Gigiri home
By Ascah Mwango, December 18, 2025President William Ruto has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo at their home in Gigiri, Nairobi.
In a statement shared via his X account on Thursday, December 18, 2025, Ruto expressed sympathy and offered comfort to the grieving relatives.

“Condoled with the family of my friend, the Late Hon. Cyrus Jirongo, at their Gigiri home, Nairobi County. May we be comforted by the word of the Lord in Psalm 46:1. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”” Ruto stated.

The visit comes amid growing public interest and an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of Jirongo’s death.

The former MP died on December 13, 2025, after a collision with a public service vehicle in the Karai area near Naivasha. The crash was severe and left Jirongo fatally injured at the scene.

A postmortem examination carried out at Lee Funeral Home revealed that Jirongo died from blunt force trauma. The pathology team found multiple severe injuries, including fractures to the ribs and spine, damage to the chest and abdominal cavities, and heavy internal bleeding. Family pathologists who attended the autopsy described the injuries as consistent with a violent impact.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has opened a formal probe and is treating the death as the subject of a forensic investigation. Investigators have gathered evidence from the crash scene and reviewed CCTV footage that captured parts of the events leading to the collision. Detectives have been working to clarify vehicle movements and speeds before the impact.

Members of Jirongo’s family and friends have publicly voiced doubts about aspects of the official account and said they will engage private investigators for an independent review of the circumstances surrounding his death.
Leaders from across the political divide and members of the public have continued to visit the family in Gigiri to pay their respects.
