Nursing Council praises medic for selfless service during crash that killed Johana Ng’eno

The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) commended Nurse Jeptoo for her professionalism, noting that the medic responded selflessly during the tragic incident that claimed six lives, including that of the lawmaker.
The Nursing Council of Kenya has heaped praises on nurse Jeptoo whose selfless service stood out in the wake of the tragic chopper crash that claimed the life of Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johanna Ng’eno.
“The Nursing Council of Kenya commends the courage and professionalism of Nurse Jeptoo, who selflessly responded to the tragic helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County.

In its statement, NCK noted that Jeptoo’s actions exemplified values that define the profession even in difficult circumstances.
“Her actions exemplify the commitment, compassion, and resilience that define the nursing profession, even in the most harrowing circumstances. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and stand in solidarity with all frontline responders affected by this tragic incident,” NCK stated.
Jeptoo’s attempts to save lives
The trained nurse was among the heroes who emerged from the tragedy as she gave her all in saving the lives of the plane crash victims.
She calmly managed the crowd that camped at the scene, defying the heavy rains and prioritising efforts to save lives in the crash at the scene of the crash at Chepkiep village, Kebulonik location, Mosop constituency in Nandi County.
Johana Ng’eno’s untimely demise plunged the country into mourning, with leaders condoling with his family and constituents.
A number of people who interacted with the deceased MP noted that he was very happy in the final minutes leading to his demise.
MP’s last minutes alive
“Actually, I bid him the last goodbye,” he said as he recalled the moment.
Mosonik said MP Ng’eno boarded the chopper in a happy mood.

“Akapanda kwa chopper and he was one of the happiest people,” he recounted.
The tragedy which happened on Saturday, February 28, 2026 adds to a growing list of aviation accidents in the country.
