Mosiria responds to viral photos showing demolition at Ng’ang’a’s Neno church
By Valerian Khakayi, January 21, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement, Geoffrey Mosiria, has broken his silence following viral photos circulating online claiming that Apostle James Ng’ang’a’s Neno Evangelism Centre had been demolished.
The church is located near Nairobi Railway Station.
In a statement shared on his official social media pages on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Mosiria dismissed the images as fake, saying no demolition has taken place at the church.
He urged Kenyans to ignore the AI-generated photos that have caused confusion and panic on social media.
To counter the claims, Mosiria shared a video showing the church building intact and in good condition, insisting that operations at the church were going on as usual.
He further revealed that he would be attending a church service at Neno Evangelism Centre, saying he was heading there for divine intervention.
“Ignore AI images, no one has demolished neno na neno litasimama Kesho naendea divine intervention kwa commander,” Mosiria wrote.

Demolition images
Mosiria’s update comes after undated photos showing an excavator tearing into the church building as crowds watch from a distance went viral for the better part of Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Some of the images circulating online were accompanied by a caption stating that the government officials had moved in to demolish the church to pave way for the construction of a railway line.
The viral photos had sparked heated debate online, with some Kenyans believing that authorities had moved in to demolish the church. However, Mosiria’s clarification and video evidence helped calm the situation.
Demolitions by the Kenya Railways
The AI images of Neno’s demolition come days after the Kenya Railways Corporation demolished a structure located on its land.
Kenya Railways has warned that illegal structures along key Nairobi rail corridors will be removed to pave the way for new stations and a spur line ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In a statement posted on its X account on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the corporation said the developments are part of preparations to ensure smooth transport for fans and commuters during the tournament, which Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
“The Government of Kenya is making requisite preparations to host a successful tournament,” Kenya Railways stated.

“To this end, all encroachers were advised and issued with notices in good time to vacate the railway corridor to pave the way for the construction of the station and spur line.
It further issued a stern warning that any illegal structures or property found on the corridor will be demolished or removed without further notice and at the encroacher’s risk and cost.
“Kenya Railways is in the process of evicting all encroachers as we repossess all the land that has been identified for the above-mentioned development. Therefore, take note that any illegal structures/property found on the corridor will be demolished and/or removed without further notice and at the encroacher’s risk and cost,” the corporation warned.
