List of areas to experience blackout on Sunday, February 22
By William Muthama, February 22, 2026Kenya Power has announced that parts of four counties will experience scheduled power outages on Sunday, February 22.
In an X statement on Saturday, February 21, 2026, the company said the blackout is part of routine maintenance work aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply.
“Good evening. The following areas will be on planned power maintenance tomorrow, (22.02.2026),”Kenya Power stated.
Nairobi and Machakos
In Nairobi County, the maintenance will affect Kyangombe, Syokimau SGR, Old Mombasa Road, Cabanas, ICD Road, and Maasai Road.
Several industrial parks and business centres are included, such as Heavy Engineering, Tile & Carpet, Kings, Atlantis Business Park, Powergen Renewable Energy, Vimit Converters, Sanden Intercool (K), Enyon Ltd, Hasbah Kenya, Piltrade Centre, Posh Autobody, Wall Street, and Jumbo Chem.

Other affected commercial and residential locations include Alpha Centre, Ramtons, Tuskys HQs, Steel Makers, Manchester Outfitters, Rea, Nice & Lovely, Prime Cartons, Ocean Group, Kenbro, Saj Ceramics, Patmos, Laneeb Plastics, Chemical & Solvent, Nyoro Construction, Kenbelt, KenGen Godown, Label Converters, Lab & Allied, Libra House, Bobmill, Simba Colt, Furniture International, Malplast, Economic Industries, Elgon Kenya, Kengrow, Modulec Ind, Crystal Motors, Hifadhi House, Rafiki Millers, Noble Gases, Pollman’s Tours, Nissan Kenya, and ICRSC Complex.
Parts of Machakos County, particularly along Beijing Road, will also be affected. Locations include Greatwall Apartments, Allpack Industries, Sanden, Blowplast, Kuchi Road, Dam Est, and nearby businesses.
Embu and Kilifi
In the Mt. Kenya region, Embu County will see outages in areas such as Shell Kirimari, Bonanza, Lexo Petrol Station, Step 2 Hotel, Billionaire, Nairobi Stage, Prestige Hotel, Juakali, Bonanza School, Shakahola Market, and surrounding customers.

The Coast region, specifically Kilifi County, will be affected in parts of Kakajuni, including Pwani University Library, Ganze Petanguo, Matanomme, Vitengeni, Mwangia, and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power said the outages in all regions are scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, except for some areas in Embu County, where the work will run from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
