Lavington, Kilimani among areas affected as Nairobi Water announces supply interruption
By Valerian Khakayi, June 15, 2026Residents and businesses in several parts of Nairobi will experience a temporary water supply interruption following a notice by Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.
In an official public notice issued on Monday, June 15, 2026, the utility provider said the disruption is due to a leakage on the NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete transmission pipeline at Gatundu.
According to the announcement, the shutdown will take place from 10pm on Monday, June 15, 2026, to midday on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
“Dear Valued Customer, This is to inform you of a temporary water supply interruption that will affect several residential and commercial areas in the city. The interruption is due to a leakage on the NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete transmission pipeline at Gatundu,” the notice reads.
“The shutdown shall take place from 10pm Monday, June 15, 2026, to Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at midday.”
Areas to be affected
Among the areas expected to be affected are Westlands and its environs, Kibera, Lavington, Karen, Kilimani, Uthiru, Upperhill, Kawangware, Ngong Road, Kangemi, Madaraka, Langata, as well as MAVWASCO and Oloolaiser Water Company service areas.
Nairobi Water has advised residents in the affected areas to report any concerns between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 p.m
“For updates, assistance, or to report any concerns, call Toll-Free on 0800 724 366 (available 7:30 a.m. 9:30 p.m.),” Nairobi Water urged.

Similar interruption
In a similar incident, Nairobi Water earlier announced a temporary water supply interruption on May 2, 2026, following a major burst on the same NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete transmission pipeline at Gigiri, which affected several parts of the city, including areas served from Kabete Reservoirs.
In a statement issued on Friday, May 1, 2026, the utility firm said the disruption was caused by a major burst on the NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete transmission pipeline at Gigiri.

“Nairobi Water wishes to inform the public of a temporary water supply interruption affecting several residential and commercial areas in the city, following a major burst on the NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete transmission pipeline at Gigiri. Water supply is expected to resume by 6:00am on Saturday, May 2, 2026,” Nairobi Water announced.
Water supply in that case was restored after repair works were completed.
