Kiambu MCAs protests after goons attack Majority Leader Godfrey Mucheke

Kiambu Members of the County Assembly have issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Kikuyu police officers to arrest the persons of interest who attacked the Leader of the Majority in the Kiambu Assembly, Godfrey Mucheke, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in Kikuyu, failure to which they have stated that they will make arrests themselves and seek justice for their colleague.

Speaking at Kikuyu Police Station on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Kiambu MCAs have also threatened to engage their opponents in a similar manner if stern measures are not taken against the suspects who appear to be targeting Kiambu Governor Paul Kimani Wamatangi and his close allies in the Assembly.

“We shall not bow down to any pressure from detractors. We, as MCAs in the Kiambu Assembly, will also defend our governor and ourselves. We are politicians too and understand that style too,” Nelson Munga, Ndeiya MCA and Majority Whip, declared.

“If police, you are overwhelmed by your responsibilities, we shall wake up and face the perpetrators head-on. We cannot sit down and watch as some politicians terrorise others,” Munga added.

They want the security apparatus across Kiambu County to shun partisan politics and execute its mandate accordingly without favour.

In addition, they insist that the governor is the most senior state officer in the county and that his security should therefore be paramount across all 12 sub-counties.

“Police in Kikuyu Sub-County have let us down. They never produced any officer to attend the governor’s event as required. We demand an answer from the Kikuyu Police Commander,” Kiambu Deputy Speaker John Njiru demanded.

The MCAs want leaders to cease using goons to attack their opponents and instead engage residents freely.
