Kenya Power lists areas to experience power outage on Friday, July 24
By Cynthia Lodite, July 23, 2026The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has issued a public notice regarding scheduled power maintenance expected to affect select areas in three regions across the country on Friday, July 24, 2026.
The electricity distributor noted that the planned interruptions are necessary to facilitate routine network maintenance and infrastructure upgrades aimed at ensuring overall supply reliability.
In an official updates notice shared on social media platform X on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Kenya Power advised customers in the affected regions to plan ahead for the temporary blackout.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (24 July, 2026). We regret any inconvenience that may be caused during the operations,” Kenya Power announced
According to the detailed breakdown released by the utility firm, all affected locations across the targeted counties will experience power disruption starting from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Affected regions and specific locations
In the Nairobi Region, the outage will impact parts of Kaloleni and Ojimbo. Specific locations mapped out for the eight-hour maintenance window include Kaloleni Primary School, Ojimbo, and adjacent customers within the surrounding neighbourhood.
In the North Rift Region, parts of Uasin Gishu County will also experience the planned power maintenance during the same period. The specific areas earmarked for the temporary interruption are Kenya 2 and Murgusi Village. Other facilities within this zone that will be without electricity supply include Murgusi Dispensary and nearby residential and commercial customers.
Meanwhile, in the Mount Kenya Region, parts of Nyeri County are scheduled for maintenance operations. The exercise will cover Kiandu, Gura, and Kaiguri. Detailed areas listed in the notice include Kiandu Market, Kiandu Primary School, Kenya Cooperative Creameries Kiandu, Gura, Kaiguri Market, Gondo School, parts of Kiawaithanji, Nduiga, alongside adjacent customers.
Residents and business operators in the designated areas are advised to treat all electrical installations as live during the entire duration of the maintenance process. Normal power supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance works are completed in each respective area.
