Kenya Power lists areas set to experience blackouts on Thursday, August 13

Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance that will affect several areas across the country on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled maintenance will result in temporary power interruptions in parts of the Migori, Murang’a, Meru, Kiambu, Kilifi and Mombasa counties, with affected customers advised to make the necessary arrangements.

Kenya Power said the interruptions are part of planned maintenance operations and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (13th August, 2026). We regret any inconvenience that may be caused during the operations,” Kenya Power announced.

Here are the specific areas that will be affected by the planned blockout.

Parts of Migori County

In Migori County, areas around Kokuro and Siruti will experience a power interruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Obama, Kokuro, Nyatambe, Siruti, Ondome, Gamba Secondary School, Kanyaslega, Nyamasaria and adjacent customers.

Parts of Murang’a County

In Murang’a County, customers in Kirere, Kaimiri, Muthithi and Karuri will be without power between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Mutunguru, Kangondu, Kiriangoro, Kirere, Kahethu, Kaimiri, Migwini, Ngamburi, Gikomora, Muthithi Market, Karuri and Njora, among other adjacent areas.

Parts of Meru County

In Meru, areas around Kaaga, Kithoka and Nkoune are scheduled for an outage from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Affected customers include those in Nkoune, Mwiriene, Meru Teachers College, Mwithumwilu Secondary School, Kaaga Girls High School, Mpakone Village, Kaaga, Safaricom Kaaga, LR Petrol Station, Gatimene Gardens, Runogone, KEMU University, Tuliza FM, Gakurine, Kiandiu, Chungu, Kwiriro Market, Kaithe Market and Kithoka.

Parts of Kiambu County

Two areas in Kiambu County are also scheduled for planned maintenance.

Customers in Kanunga and Kiamara Estate will experience an interruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include Valentine Growers, Kashphat, Kanunga High School, Ngegu, Turitu and Kiamara.

In Limuru Town and Karanjee, the interruption will also run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Areas affected include Karanjee, parts of Limuru Town and Rironi, Ngenia, Mutarakwa, Stephjoy, Nderu, Thigio, Rosmali, Ndioni, Kireri and Nguirubi.

Mai Mahiu

Customers in Mai Mahiu will experience an outage between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include River Springs Hotel, Mayers, Namja, China Wu-Yi, Gold Stone Quarry, Manyata Quarry, Yellow Stones Quarry, Kingston Quarry, Ewaso Kedong Market, Najire Girls and Earth Station, among other adjacent customers.

Parts of Kilifi County

In Kilifi County, areas around Kayuni, Gede and Kasufini will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected locations include Malindi Handcraft, Mshongoleni, Mkao Moto, Paguo, Kwa Abudu and Kasufini, as well as adjacent areas.

Parts of Mombasa County

In Mombasa, parts of Likoni will experience planned power interruptions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Affected areas include Pentagon, Mrima, Kwa Water, Bilal, Mwananzia, Nyumba ya Meli, Mwananguvuze, Office ya Jaara, Approved, Gambani, Tonge Nyama, Kwanziwe, parts of Maweni and Barabara ya Mchanga.
