Kenya Power announces planned blackouts in Nairobi and 5 other counties on Monday, September 7

Residents and business owners in parts of Nairobi and five other counties will need to plan ahead for Monday, September 7, 2026, as Kenya Power carries out routine maintenance on its network.

The utility company confirmed the scheduled shutdowns through its official X page, outlining specific areas where electricity supply will be turned off temporarily during the day.

Nairobi, Central Rift, and Western regions

In the Nairobi Region, the power supply will be interrupted in parts of the United Nation area from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Customers along UN Crescent Road, Limuru Road, Gigiri Road, and nearby streets will experience outages during this period.

Over in the Central Rift Region, sections of Bomet County will face power cuts between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm. The blackout will affect Koiwa, Sotit, and Kobel areas.

Specific sites include Koiwa Market, Kipkoibet Market, Kobel Market, Sotit Market, Satiet Market, Rorok Tea Factory, Kobel Factory, Siomo Tea Factory, Kaptebengwet Market, Ndalelai Market, and Embomos.

Meanwhile, Western Region customers in Siaya County’s Sawagongo area will undergo maintenance from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Facilities impacted include Muhanda Market, Rawalo, Nyawara Girls, Sawagongo High School, Luri Primary, Nango Gonad Primary, and Gongo Resource Centre.

South Nyanza and Mt. Kenya regions

South Nyanza residents in Migori County will see an early interruption. Outages in Uriri and Stella will run from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

Affected places include Uriri, Kanyakech, Kolwal, Oyani Center, Oyani Water, Siro Girls, Bware, Achuth, Edemba, Kamsaki, Senta Garage, Stellah, Magongo, Mukuyu, Kakrao, God Jope, Kona Kowanga Chamkombe, Nyasare Injiris, Kimadui, and GOTV.

Finally, two counties in the Mt. Kenya Region will undergo maintenance from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. In Nyeri County, Kangaita and Mirichu will be off-grid, affecting Eucabeth School, Gondo, Kangaita Market, Gaki Secondary School, and Mirichu Primary.

In Meru County, power will be cut across Kariene Market and Gatimbi Market areas.

This includes Gikumene Secondary School, Kirige Secondary School, Woodlands Nursing Hospital, Mutharene Market, Igane Health Centre, Ruiga Primary School, Nkando Secondary, Elobay Investment, Mwangathia, Magundu, Njuthine, Kaongo, Mbajone, Kirreiro Community, Ngonyi Market, Rwankware Coffee Factory, Kirigara Secondary, Mukiria Polytechnic, Nyweri Village, Black Africa, and Kairebi Secondary.
