Kenya Power announces 7am-5pm maintenance works in Roysambu, Githurai until Saturday
By William Muthama, September 15, 2026Kenya Power has announced 10-hour daily maintenance work in Roysambu and Githurai, with the exercise running from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm until Saturday, September 19, 2026.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Kenya Power said the exercise is being carried out under the Boresha Roysambu programme.
The maintenance works will involve various transformers in the Roysambu and Githurai areas as the utility company undertakes planned work on the electricity network.
“Our teams are carrying out planned maintenance works on various transformers in the Roysambu and Githurai areas this week, under the Boresha Roysambu exercise. The works are running this week from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm until Saturday,” Kenya Power said.

Kenya Power said the exercise is focused on maintaining the network and addressing issues that could affect power supply in the area.
The teams will carry out the works during the 10-hour period each day, with the exercise continuing through Saturday.
The utility company has asked residents and businesses in the affected areas to exercise patience and understanding as its teams undertake the planned maintenance.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams carry out the exercise,” Kenya Power said.
Other areas to experience outages today
Other parts of the country will also experience planned power interruptions on Tuesday, September 15, as Kenya Power carries out its routine maintenance and network upgrade programme.
In Nairobi, parts of Langata and Royal Park Estate will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting KMA, St Mary’s Hospital, GK Prisons, Sunvalley Estate, Otiende Estate and adjacent customers.
In Kajiado County, Kimuka and Maragara will experience an outage from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, affecting areas including Ololaioser, Ngere Road, Maragara Road, Booster Road, Olemontet, Bella, Baboon Crescent, Kimuka, Saikeri and Oloshobor.

In West Pokot, Sarmach, Nasolot and Karon will experience an interruption from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Sarmach Market, Nasolot and Karon Centre.
In Kisumu County, Keda Ceramics and adjacent customers will be without power from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Mt Kenya region
Several areas in the Mt Kenya region are also affected.
In Kirinyaga County, Kianyaga and Rukenya, including Kianyaga Town, Rwambiti Market, Rukenya Market, Kathata, Kianyaga Hospital and parts of Kutus Town, will experience an outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Tharaka Nithi, the Ngunga Market area, including Ngunga and Karambari primary schools, will experience a similar interruption.
In Nyeri, planned outages will affect Sangare Milk Plant, Endarasha and Kanyagia, as well as Thangathi, Kiuu and Ithanji, including Ngoru, Kihate, Mutwewathi and nearby schools.
Coast region
At the Coast, parts of Kwale County, including Diani, Tandoori, the University of Nairobi, Manyatta and Two Fishes, will experience an outage from 9:00am to 5:00 pm.
A separate outage in Kasemeni will run from 9:00 am to noon.
In Mombasa County, the whole of Miritini will also experience an interruption, affecting areas including Doshi Miritini, Axel Lubes, Kilimanjaro Biscuits and Mombasa Water Offices Bonje.
