Kenya Met: Cloudy and cooler conditions expected in parts of the country
By Valerian Khakayi, June 12, 2026The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast indicating intermittent cloudy and cooler conditions in parts of the country, alongside rainfall in select regions.
In its daily forecast issued on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the weatherman noted that on Friday, June 12, 2026, some areas, particularly the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley as well as the Southeastern lowlands, will experience cloudy and cooler conditions.
“Intermittent cloudy and cooler conditions expected over some parts of the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley and southeastern lowlands,” Kenya Met forecasted.
The department also indicated that rainfall is expected over a few parts of the country during the forecast period.
“Rainfall is expected over a few parts of the country,” Kenya Met added.

Weather in specific regions
In the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley region, partly cloudy conditions are expected at night with chances of showers and thunderstorms in some areas.
Morning hours will be mainly sunny with intervals, while afternoon hours are expected to feature sunshine mixed with showers and thunderstorms in selected locations.
“Highlands west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley. (These counties include Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Siaya, Homa Bay, Kericho, Nandi, Bomet, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, and Narok),” the weatherman said.
“Mainly partly cloudy conditions are expected tonight with a chance of showers and thunderstorms over a few places. Mainly sunny intervals expected in the morning. Mainly sunny intervals with showers and thunderstorms over few places expected in the afternoon.”

While the northwestern and northeastern regions are expected to experience partly cloudy conditions at night, followed by sunny intervals during the day. However, isolated morning rains may occur in some areas such as Moyale and Marsabit, with strong southerly to southeasterly winds forecast in several counties.
In the South Eastern Lowlands and the Coast, partly cloudy conditions are expected at night, with morning showers in selected areas and sunny intervals later in the day. Strong southerly winds of above 25 knots are expected across parts of the region, according to the forecast.
