Kenya Airways has temporarily suspended flights to Dubai and Sharjah following the closure of the UAE airspace following the war between the United States, Israel and Iran.

The airline on Saturday, February 28, 2026, confirmed that the suspension affects passenger and freighter flights, including KQ310, KQ311, KQ304, and KQ305, until further notice.

“We wish to inform our customers that we have temporarily suspended flights to Dubai and Sharjah until further notice due to the UAE airspace closure,” the airline said.

The suspension is aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers and crew. Kenya Airways apologised for the inconvenience and said it is engaging directly with affected customers to assist.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the airline added.

Passengers are advised to stay updated on flight information through official channels.

Closure of UAE airspace

A series of strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, followed by retaliatory attacks from Tehran, has sparked widespread violence in the region, leading to the closure of much of the Middle East’s airspace.

At least eight countries shut their airspace as the conflict escalated. The affected states include Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. Syria also closed part of its southern airspace along the border with Israel for 12 hours.

Kenya Airways has urged its customers to check the latest flight updates on its website or mobile app. Those needing assistance can contact the Customer Excellence Team at +254 711 024 747, via WhatsApp at +254 705 474 747, or on X @KQSuport.

“As this is a developing situation, we will provide updates as soon as new information becomes available,” the airline said.

The airline’s statement emphasised that the temporary suspension is part of ongoing measures to prioritise safety.

“For the safety of our customers and crew, we have cancelled KQ310, KQ311, KQ304, KQ305 and freighter flights to the UAE,” Kenya Airways added.

Officials said the airline is closely monitoring the situation and will resume normal operations once the UAE airspace is reopened. Kenya Airways encouraged travellers to remain patient as the situation develops.

“We encourage our customers to check the latest flight updates on our website or mobile app, or contact our Customer Excellence Team for support,” the airline noted.

The Kenyan government has also sent an alert to its citizens in the affected countries as it continues to monitor the situation.
