Huduma Kenya announces temporary service interruption

Huduma Kenya has announced a temporary disruption of services across all Huduma Centres in the country following a power outage that affected its data centre.
In a public notice issued on Monday, June 15, 2026, the agency said the outage has made it impossible for citizens to access key government services, leaving many Kenyans temporarily stranded at service desks.
“Huduma Kenya wishes to inform the public that services are temporarily unavailable at Huduma Centres due to a power outage that affected our data centre,” the agency stated.

The announcement comes as thousands of Kenyans rely on Huduma Centres daily for services such as ID processing, birth certificates, driving licence applications, and other essential government documentation. The disruption is expected to cause delays and long queues once services resume, especially in busy centres like GPO Nairobi and other urban locations.
“Our technical teams are working to restore services as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience,” Huduma Kenya added.
Such disruptions, while not very frequent, are not entirely new in Kenya’s digital and public service systems. In December 2024, a major nationwide power outage affected most parts of the country, temporarily disrupting internet connectivity and several digital services across sectors, according to reports by Kenya Power and independent monitoring groups.
Huduma Centres have in the past experienced intermittent system downtimes, often linked to technical glitches, network challenges, or infrastructure maintenance. These incidents usually lead to the temporary suspension of services before normal operations are restored.
