For better or for worse: Bobi Wine praises wife’s courage after their home was raided
By Charles Ouma, January 30, 2026Uganda’s opposition leader Bobi Wine has celebrated his wife’s courage in challenging times, sharing photos taken of Barbie during a raid at their home that had earlier been circulated by Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The politician hailed Barbie for remaining committed to their wedding vows despite the onslaught and the inhumane treatment meted out to her during a raid at their home.
“Indeed, when she swore for better or for worse, she never imagined these thugs placing their filthy hands on her. But it happened, and she took it with grace. She courageously confronted the criminals and refused to surrender despite the violence,” he said via a statement on X on Friday, January 30, 2026.

He noted that Barbie courageously confronted the officers who raided their home and was left traumatised after being held at gunpoint and her photos taken.
“Here is a picture of my wife shared by Museveni’s son and head of our nation’s military, Muhoozi Kainerugaba. When soldiers on his orders raided our home, they made her sit down, put her on gunpoint to reveal her phone passwords and my whereabouts, assaulted her, and eventually tore her nightdress shirt while filming,” Bobi Wine added.
Filming Barbie & sending videos to Muhoozi
The politician shared that it is only after Barbie fainted that those behind the raid left her, adding that Muhoozi was receiving films during the raid.
“It was only after her blood pressure rose and she became unconscious that these thugs left her, before she was rushed to the hospital. As she narrated, these criminals were filming everything and definitely sending it to their deranged boss!” Wine added.

He also hailed Barbie’s strength and conveyed her appreciation for the overwhelming support in the wake of the raid.
“Barbie is strong and appreciates all of you who have reached out with messages of strength and solidarity, as she tries to recover from the trauma,” he continued.
Bobi Wine’s vow
He vowed that the President of Uganda and his son will one day be held accountable for their actions.
“Museveni and his son will one day pay for all the crimes committed against the people of Uganda.

Armed men stormed the politician’s home last weekend, vandalising his house and making away with valuables, including electronics.
Those found at home were roughed up and assaulted during the incident that left Barbie traumatised.
