‘Fools cannot tolerate intelligent men’ – Nelson Havi invites Sifuna to join DCP
By Charles Ouma, February 12, 2026Senior Counsel Nelson Havi has reacted to the decision by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to kick out Edwin Sifuna, who served as its Secretary General until yesterday, February 11, 2026.
Havi hailed Sifuna as an intelligent man who simply could not be tolerated by fools while accepting the outcome.
Havi did not name the persons he was referring to as fools in his statement posted on X on the same day that Sifuna was ousted.
He extended an invitation to the Nairobi senator to consider joining the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
“Edwin Sifuna, welcome to DCP. Fools cannot tolerate intelligent men,” Havi, who is eyeing the Westlands Parliamentary seat, wrote on X.

Boniface Mwangi praises Sifuna
Sifuna was kicked out by the ODM National Executive Council at a meeting in Mombasa, marking the end of an era for the fierce Secretary General who shaped ODM’s journey for several years.
Several notable Kenyans have praised Sifuna for leaving his mark while urging him to soldier on, with Boniface Mwangi hailing him as a principled leader.
“Thank you, @edwinsifuna, for being a principled leader and refusing to bend the knee to demagogue and dictator Kasongo. I believe you will continue to defend the ODM party from hyenas and sellouts. With or without the party, you remain an important voice for the people of Kenya!” The activist said on X.
On his part, Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya congratulated Sifuna, saying the move had salvaged his political standing and opened new opportunities.
“Congratulations to Edwin W. Sifuna. Now you have salvaged yourself politically; you are now free. We can now fight for Kenyans together,” Salasya stated.
He hailed ODM’s decision as a win for Kenyans, arguing that it creates space for broader political collaboration.
“Removal of Sifuna is a win for Kenyans in general. I will now camp in Nairobi to campaign for you. I am now ready to join the movement,” he added.
Omanyo takes over from Sifuna
Sifuna has since been replaced by Busia Woman Representative, Catherin Omanyo, in an acting capacity.

“Having deliberated on matters relating to the conduct of the Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, the NEC resolved to remove him from office with immediate effect in accordance with the Party Constitution and applicable laws,” the statement reads.
“Effectively, the Deputy Secretary General Hon. Catherine Omanyo will act in this position until a substantive holder of the position is elected,” ODM said in a statement.
