The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has successfully intercepted large consignments of bhang valued at approximately Ksh11.6 million during coordinated anti-narcotics operations in Nakuru County and Keiyo South.

In a post on X on Monday, January 19, 2026, the agency confirmed that the operations were intelligence-led and involved multiple units, including the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Dog Unit.

Acting on credible intelligence, detectives intercepted a silver vehicle along Kabarak-Nakuru Road. A search revealed 12 green sacks and 12 bales of bhang, weighing a total of 387 kilograms.

While the driver escaped, the co-driver, identified as a person of interest, was apprehended. The individual, along with the seized narcotics and vehicle, was taken to a local police station for processing, awaiting legal proceedings.

The agency urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts.

“These operations highlight the importance of timely intelligence and rapid response in disrupting criminal networks,” the post added. “Community support is crucial if we are to keep narcotics off our streets and ensure public safety.”

This comes a day after police seized 243 rolls of bhang during a targeted operation in the Mwata area, Kisii South Sub-County.

The drugs were found hidden in a maize plantation, and a red TVS motorcycle suspected of being used in drug trafficking was also recovered. The person of interest fled during the operation and is currently being pursued by police.
