By , August 11, 2026

Twelve counties are set to experience chilly nights over the next seven days, with minimum average temperatures expected to fall below 10°C in some areas.

According to the Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) weekly minimum temperature outlook for August 11–17, 2026, parts of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, Trans Nzoia and Taita-Taveta counties are expected to record minimum average temperatures of less than 10°C.

The forecast indicates that most parts of the country will generally remain dry during the period.

Counties with high daytime temperatures

While some areas are expected to have chilly nights, daytime temperatures are forecast to rise above 30°C in much of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, Turkana, Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega counties.

Residents in these areas could therefore experience a notable contrast between cooler night-time conditions and warmer temperatures during the day.

Kenya Met has also forecast rainfall in parts of Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Kericho, Nyandarua and Nyeri counties.

The rainfall is expected to occur even as most parts of the country remain generally dry during the forecast period.

“Most parts of the country are expected to be generally dry. Some counties including Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo/Marakwet, Kericho, Nyandarua and Nyeri may receive rainfall,” Kenya Met stated.

The cool and cloudy conditions are expected to affect some areas at different times during the seven-day forecast period.

The latest outlook highlights the varying weather conditions expected across the country, with some regions experiencing chilly nights, others recording daytime temperatures above 30°C, while several areas may receive rainfall or experience intermittent cloudy conditions.

Residents are advised to remain aware of local weather developments, particularly in areas expected to experience rainfall, cooler conditions or significant changes between daytime and night-time temperatures.
