Steps required when doing online booking

Visit the official verified Kenya Railways website or navigate through the portal of Madaraka Express “metickets.krc.co.ke.”

Click on the trip details and fill in the required information like the type of train that day, date of departure, and from where to Mombasa.

Additionally, fill in your personal details as per the online document and make your payment through mobile money, debit/credit card, and bank transfers, among others.

You will be notified via SMS or email about your ticket number.

How to book SGR train ticket using USSD code

Alternatively, a passenger may dial *639# on the phone to book the train by following some required steps. Select the book train option, and fill in the travel details as requested.

You are required to provide passengers necessary information and details. Select payment and wait for a prompt notification to pop up on your phone and verify the payment by providing M-Pesa PIN.

After successful payment, you will get a summary notification about your booking details through SMS.

In-person booking

In most cases, the SGR station normally operates from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, and therefore an individual is advised to visit between that timeline to make a booking.

You will be required to provide all details required, and if they are satisfactory, you will pay for the ticket fee through bank transfers, mobile money, cash, or debit/credit card.

Immediately after payment, you will be given the ticket at the counter.
